Although no one is really sure why it happened, the United Kingdom’s residents almost seem determined to avoid the chat room boom that occurred on the Internet in the early to mid 1990’s. No one has ever really gone on record to try and explain why exactly this happened, but the most likely explanation for it was that the United Kingdom’s population was just more interested in the other things that were going on. It’s unlikely there was some existing underground group opposing the chat rooms so there are not a lot of other explainable stories.
But who cares about the past? The United Kingdom’s population eventually found their way to online chat rooms and hasn’t looked back since! The country is even now in the top five in the world for the numbers of its citizens that frequently chat in online chat rooms. So it doesn’t even matter why the people in the UK didn’t chat very much until recently – they’ve obviously gotten over whatever it was!
Some of the topics that are most popular in UK chat rooms are sporting discussions, beer discussions and a TON of conversations about food. But quite honestly, most of the UK chat rooms manage to boast a high level of interesting and intriguing topics instead of conversations about getting plastered going on every five minutes.

You type into the text toolbar in the interface and read from a window where you can see everything that everyone is saying exactly as it’s posted. When you really sit down and think about all of the intricacies that go on behind the scenes in these chat rooms, you really just can’t help but shake your head in amazement. Seriously, would any of us have believed all of the things that are now available on the Internet about ten years or so ago? Probably not!
